Website Design – You’re doing it wrong

I think all website designers like to think they know what’s good and bad in a design, yet if you get a bunch of us together we’ll disagree on a lot of things, after all design is very subjective.

However, I’m pretty sure any designer (or person with eyes) would agree that BE got it seriously wrong with their latest re-branding. Their new site looks like it was designed by a 12 year old back in the days of geocities, and I should know, back in the days of geocities I was 12, and I made websites that looked a lot like this:

The difference is when I was 12 I wasn’t one of the leading broadband suppliers in the UK, and I wasn’t trying to be taken seriously as business, so I could get away with making sites like this. These days however, I have to make sites that look good, and so should BE, but instead they’ve opted for a design that has been universally slated, and will undoubtedly win awards for the worst re-design ever.

Congratulations BE, you’ve failed harder than I ever thought possible.
